With five seconds remaining in regulation, on the road against rival Hingham, Duxbury senior Mike McCutcheon corralled a pass from teammate Will Prouty near the Harbormen’s net.
With the clock behind him, and a sea of defenders in front of him, McCutcheon zig-zagged his way toward the Hingham goal and delivered a scintillating strike with 2.2 seconds left to send the game into overtime.
McCutcheon then provided the dagger for Duxbury with 40.6 seconds remaining in OT, cementing a a thrilling, come-from-behind win, 8-7, over the third-ranked Harbormen (8-2).
No. 13 Duxbury (5-3) didn’t lead the entire way, but McCutcheon ensured the Dragons led when it mattered most.
“Beast,” senior captain Matty Gill said of McCutcheon. “[He] put the team on his shoulders. He literally picked up 30 kids and carried them into OT, and then won it for us.”
With the win, Duxbury is on track to capture its 19th league championship in the last 20 seasons. The Dragons were considered underdogs coming in, but they stayed with it after trailing 4-0 through 1, 4-3 through 2, and 6-5 through 3.
Senior Will Kenney paced Hingham with four goals, but McCutcheon ended up as the hero.
“We knew what we had to do,” McCutcheon said. “We just kept fighting, and it worked out.”
Bridgewater-Raynham 16, Nauset 1 — Ryan Breheny (3 goals), Ryan Concannon (2 goals) and Nico Fabrizio (2 goals) paced the Trojans.
Ipswich 12, Manchester Essex 3 — Ben Yanakakis led the Tigers with five goals.
Manhasset (N.Y.) 18, Lincoln-Sudbury 8 — Matt Ward tallied four goals and three assists but the top-ranked Warriors (7-1) suffered their first loss against Manhasset (N.Y.), ranked 13th nationally per Inside Lacrosse rankings.
Marshfield 15, Sandwich 10 — Junior Tyler Mathisen (5 goals, 1 assist) and sophomore Colby Helfrich (4 goals, 1 assist) led the Rams (7-1).
Masconomet 8, Lynnfield 5 — Senior Ryan Castle had five goals and three assists for the Chieftains.
Melrose 18, Wilmington 4 — Senior David Monteiro scored his first varsity goal and won six faceoffs for the Raiders (5-3), helping coach Matt James earn his 100th career victory.
Methuen 17, Georgetown 12 — Junior Connor Bryant (5 goals, 4 assists) paced 10 scorers for the Rangers (2-5). Sophomore Ethan Schena made 14 saves.
St. John’s Prep 15, Catholic Memorial 3 — Luke Brennan (2 goals, 2 assists) and Pat Nisti (2 goals) paced the attack for the Eagles (8-3) and Caelen Sawyer and Jackson Klein were stellar defensively.
Girls’ lacrosse
Duxbury 15, Hingham 7 — Senior captain Julia Barry scored six goals, junior midfielder Ali Gill added four, and the No. 15 Dragons (5-3) used a 7-0 run in the second half to pull away from the Harborwomen (2-4).
Nauset 10, Bridgewater-Raynham 9 — Madison Daley scored with less than 30 seconds remaining to lift the host Warriors.
Needham 15, Braintree 3 — Lexi Schmalz (6 goals), Maeve Barker (4 goals), and Grace Kelley (3 goals, 4 assists) led an offensive outburst for the Rockets (7-2) in the Bay State Conference win.
Norwood 11, Dedham 10 — Allie McDonough netted the winning goal in double overtime to propel the Mustangs to the Tri-Valley League win.
Peabody 16, Wakefield 6 — Sophomore Hailee Lomasney led the Tanners (7-1) with five goals and two helpers.
Sandwich 8, Marshfield 7 — Senior Sammy Gorrasi (6 goals) netted the winner with seven seconds left for the Blue Knights (6-2).
Wellesley 16, Newton North 5 — Brooke Baker netted three goals and an assist, Maddy Balter added two goals and two assists, and the second-ranked Raiders (7-1) rolled to the Bay State Conference win.

Abington 4, Mashpee 1 — Junior Ricky Reissfelder allowed one earned run with five strikeouts and Craig O’Connor provided three hits for the Green Wave (7-0).
Arlington Catholic 5, Northeast 1 — Senior Sean Simmons fired a complete game in his varsity pitching debut for the Cougars.
Attleboro 8, Foxborough 0 — Junior Alvaro Espinal (2 for 3, 2 RBIs) led the offense and junior Max Amaral earned his second win of the season while dropping his ERA to 0.48, throwing four innings of two-hit ball.
Beverly 5, Swampscott 1 — Senior Conor Hanlon (2 RBIs, 2 stolen bases, run) doubled home the go-ahead run in the top of the seventh and speedy senior Colton Petrosino (4 stolen bases) went 2 for 3 with two runs and one RBI to secure the win. Junior Nick McIntyre threw four innings, striking our four and allowing just one run on three hits for the Panthers (5-1).
Chelmsford 5, Dracut 4 — Senior Jarred Huggins led the No. 13 Lions (6-1) with three hits and two RBIs.
Dighton-Rehoboth 10, Seekonk 2 — Junior outfielder Anthony Malo had three hits and an RBI for the Falcons (3-3). Junior righthander Lucas Berube threw six innings, striking out six and walking two.
Dover-Sherborn 6, Westwood 2 — Matthew McGrath tossed a three-hitter for the Raiders (2-4).
Franklin 3, North Attleborough 1 — Liam Dailey gave up six hits in seven innings of one-run ball for the top-ranked Panthers (9-0).
Lawrence Academy 8, Governor’s Academy 4 — Junior Jackson Connerney pitched six strong innings to earn his second win of the season.
Lynn Classical 4, Lynn English 0 — Freshman Deniel Ortiz was 2 for 3 with three RBIs for the Rams (4-1). Junior pitcher Aidan Dow earned the complete game win, giving up four hits and striking out two.
Newburyport 1, Ipswich 0 — Junior Parker McLaren tossed a no-hitter with three strikeouts and two walks for the Clippers (5-3).
North Quincy 11, Quincy 0 — Sophomore Joe Brahimi pitched a complete game shutout, striking out eight for the Red Raiders (2-3). Seniors Brady McGuinness (3 hits, 3 runs, stolen base) and Danny Ferrara (3 hits, 2 RBIs, 2 runs) paced North Quincy offensively.
Norwell 10, Weymouth 6 — Bobby Foley allowed eight hits over 5.2 innings for the Clippers (3-3). Sean Coffey and Brendan Hynes had two hits apiece and combined for five runs scored.
Plymouth North 8, Hingham 6 — Senior Anthony Keefe pitched three strong innings of relief and Josh Gomes, Cam Caraher and Jeff knight had multiple hits and RBIs for the Eagles (6-2).

Wellesley 3, Walpole 2 — Jay Driver pitched seven innings with 11 strikeouts and Matt Maiona went 4 for 4 with a run for the Raiders.
Wilmington 7, Burlington 6 — Tristen Ciampa cracked the winning double and picked up the win in relief for the Wildcats (3-2).

Amesbury 13, Hamilton-Wenham 1 — Julia Campbell went 3 for 3 with two doubles, two RBIs, and two runs scored for the Indians.
Andover 8, Haverhill 7 — Alexa Pacy tallied three hits, three runs, and an RBI for the Golden Warriors (5-0) in their extra-inning win.
Arlington 9, Woburn 5 — Senior Emily Benoit went 3 for 4 with an RBI and a stolen base for the Spy Ponders (4-1).
Arlington Catholic 15, Paulo Freire 0 — Freshman Kara McDonald tossed a no-hitter for the Cougars.

Milton Academy 9, Thayer 4 — Senior catcher Mary Thompson went 2 for 3 with two RBIs, helping sophomore Grace Denneen earn the win for the Mustangs (4-2).
Sacred Heart 12, South Shore Christian 7 — Freshman Elizabeth Hurm earned the win in the circle for the Saints (2-2). She also dominated offensively, going 4 for 4 with a triple and two RBIs.
